Midwifery Implementation Coordinator

The Midwives Regulations came into force on September 30, 2016, under the Health Professions Act. The new regulations provide a legal pathway to educational, registration and other certification requirements for midwives; they represent the necessary first step to implement regulated midwifery practice into the healthcare system of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Labrador-Grenfell Health (LGH) aims to implement midwifery services in Goose Bay that includes support of regional and community health nurses who provide prenatal and postpartum care, as well as advance capacity building with Indigenous partners and communities.
Under the direction of the LGH Leadership team, and in collaboration with the Provincial Midwifery Advisory Committee and the Minister of Health and Community Services, this position will work with the LGH Midwifery Implementation Working Group to implement midwifery services in LGH. This position will report to the Regional Director of Population Health.
Qualifications:
" Bachelor's degree in a related field (health, education, health promotion marketing, midwifery, community development, etc.);
" Master's degree considered an asset;
" Two years' experience in leadership roles;
" Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous midwifery cultural practices and ways of knowing;
" Collaboration and experience working with Indigenous partners which fosters culturally safe care;
" Experience in resource development and community mobilization an asset;
" Ability to work effectively with a variety of organizations and committees, promoting teamwork, collaboration, and partnership development;
" Demonstrated understanding of evidence-based practice;
" Demonstrated understanding of change management;
" Demonstrated abilities in project management;
" Strong Interpersonal oral and written communication skills would be essential for this position;
" Strong conceptual, analytical, facilitation and problem-solving skills essential;
" Use of a private vehicle would be required;
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
" Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders of other programs and departments within the Labrador-Grenfell Health Authority;
" Works with all key external partners and indigenous groups in the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of the implementation of midwifery within the Labrador-Grenfell Health Authority;
" Facilitates the development of inter-sectoral partnerships through coalitions and network building;
" Collaborates with the Department of Health and Community Services and other Regional Integrated Health Authorities in the development and evaluation of Midwifery implementation;
" Assist with Primary Health Care, Health Promotion, and Quality Improvement initiatives;
" Other related duties as required. Travel may be required. May be required to work alone.
Salary:
" CG-41 of the NAPE HP Salary Scales, $39.32 - $46.37 per hour, plus applicable Labrador Allowance.
Hours of Work:
" 75 hours bi-weekly, variable shifts.
