Registered Nurse IC - Surgical Services
Number of Positions: 8
Premium Travel Locum Assignment
Location: Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL
The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the nursing team, to provide specialized nursing care and to provide preventative, promotion, supportive, rehabilitative, and curative interventions within Surgical Services at the Labrador Health Centre. The Registered Nurse is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards and practice in accordance with the LGH Model of Nursing Clinical Practice and reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.
Qualifications:
" Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with a Nursing Diploma or an approved University with a Bachelor of Nursing.
" Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.
" Surgical Services Education Program or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by employer).
" Successful completion of NRP, ACLS, TNCC or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by employer).
" Breastfeeding education/course (desirable asset but not essential)
" Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR).
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
" Preference will be given to the candidate with current OR experience and/or a recognized post basic course.
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
" Provide safe nursing care to clients in the Surgical Suite, including Post-op Recovery Room, Endoscopy, and Day Surgery.
" Complete an accurate record of care throughout the client's stay in Surgical Services.
" Complete inventory of unit narcotics and controlled drugs.
" Be familiar with the operation of the equipment in the Surgical Suite and Day Surgery.
" Assess equipment function and reports malfunctions.
" Maintain a safe level of supplies.
" Performs other related duties as assigned.
Salary:
" NS - 31 of the RNUNL Salary Scales, $37.15-$45.62 per hour with a premium locum rate of an additional $25/hr. for hours working in the locum position. Locums must agree to work a minimum of fourteen (14) continuous days for this benefit to apply. Other benefits in accordance with the RNUNL Collective Agreement.

Hours of Work:
" 75 hours biweekly, variable shifts, on-call required.
" Position is available from November 22, 2022 to May 22, 2023 (If you have availability for any time period {minimum two-week block} during this time period, please apply and disclose your availability)
