The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the nursing team, to provide specialized nursing care and to provide preventative, promotion, supportive, rehabilitative, and curative interventions within the Inpatients Unit at the Labrador Health Centre. The Registered Nurse is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards and practice in accordance with the LGH Model of Nursing Clinical Practice and reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.
Qualifications:
" Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with a Nursing Diploma or an approved University with a Bachelor of Nursing.
" Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.
" Surgical Services Education Program or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by employer).
" Successful completion of NRP, ACLS, TNCC or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by employer).
" Breastfeeding education/course (desirable asset but not essential)
" Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR).
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
" Preference will be given to the candidate with current OR experience and/or a recognized post basic course.
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
" Organizing, planning, implementing and evaluating the plan of care for assigned clients including but not limited to: medical-surgical, obstetrics (pre-natal, labour and delivery, post-partum), special care, mental health/addictions and pediatrics;
" Participates in the auditing process as required;
" Documents as per professional and organizational standards;
" Administers medication and participates in Medication Reconciliation;
" Participates in the orientation, mentorship and preceptoring of staff;
" Represents nursing on various committees as required.
" Participates in quality assurance initiatives as requested/required.
" Acts as a liaison between the client and other healthcare providers.
" Performs other related duties as assigned.
Salary:
" NS - 28 of the RNUNL Salary Scales, $33.63 - $41.65 per hour with a premium locum rate of an additional $25/hr. for hours working in the locum position. Locums must agree to work a minimum of fourteen (14) continuous days for this benefit to apply. Other benefits in accordance with the RNUNL Collective Agreement.
