COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
Temporary Full Time

Labrador Grenfell Health is seeking a motivated energetic individual to assist the regional Director of Communications in implementing internal and external communications strategies for the organization.
Labrador-Grenfell Health is one of Newfoundland and Labrador's four regional health authorities which covers Labrador and all communities north of Bartlett's Harbour on the Northern Peninsula. Labrador-Grenfell Health employs over 1,500 dedicated personnel and provides quality health and community services to approximately 37,000 people (Statistics Canada, Census 2016 data) inclusive of three indigenous groups: Innu First Nation, Inuit, and Southern Inuit.
Definition of Work:
The Communications department is responsible for supporting all departments within the organization in the functions of strategic communications, issues management, marketing, media relations, internal communications, and external communications. The successful candidate will multi-task, work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and meet tight timelines. Key duties include assisting with events, writing and editing a variety of internal and external communications materials, developing and posting content to Labrador-Grenfell Health's social media platforms and website. The successful candidate will seek opportunities to proactively communicate Labrador-Grenfell Health stories. The ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with employees and stakeholders across the health region is central to being successful in this position.
Qualifications:
" Diploma or Undergraduate degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or equivalent from an accredited/recognized college or university or combined education and work experience.
" Demonstrated writing and editing skills (i.e. articles, plain language, ad copy, etc.).
" Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skills.
" Motivated self-started and ability to work independently.
" Demonstrated knowledge of social media trends and best practices.
" Knowledge of graphic design software considered an asset.
" Experience working with Wordpress considered an asset.
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
" The Communications Officer will support and promote Labrador-Grenfell Health's strategic goals through development of key messages, content creation and maintaining media relations.
" The successful candidate will excel in multi-tasking, often with competing priorities and tight timelines.
" Key duties include:
o assisting writing and editing a variety of communications materials;
o media monitoring;
o developing and evaluating digital content on Labrador-Grenfell Health's website and social media accounts; and
o assisting with the planning and execution of events.
" Assist in the research, development, implementation and evaluation of marketing campaigns
" Ensuring digital marketing content aligns with the organization's vision.
" Work closely with leadership to develop and strengthen engagement activities
" The successful candidate will seek opportunities to proactively communicate Labrador-Grenfell Health values and strategic directions towards the organization's vision of healthy people living in healthy communities.
" Other related duties as required
" May be required to work some evenings and weekends
" Travel maybe required,
" May be required to work alone.
Salary:
" This is a non-union/non-management position at CG-28, $23.89- $26.47 plus the applicable Labrador Allowance.
Hours of Work:
" 75 hours Bi-weekly; variable shifts may be applicable.
